University of New England - Wright College Security Upgrade

Terraworx Pty Ltd were delighted to win this project in their back yard. A long history with the UNE meant that they came to us again with a security upgrade for one of their colleges. This required an additional 80m fencing to enclose the carpark and adding an 8.4m wide opening Xtreeme cantilever gate to clear the undulating driveway at the location the gate had to be installed, one of our Xtreeme EAC (electronic access control) gates.

Due to the modular design of the cantilever gates, we were able to freight this to site and assemble it within a few hours.  There were some challenges with underground services at the location of the cantilever footing, where an old Asbestos water main was running through the concrete. We liaised with Armidale Regional Council to replace this section of pipe with plastic pipe and then adjust our gate footing design so it didn’t encase the pipe in concrete.

Where the gate was to be installed was on a corner in the driveway, meaning the gate had to be very wide, as well as run over existing kerb and gutters. With the cantilever design, we can install these to span over the existing kerb and gutter, and UNE installed a ramp of hot mix under the gate so reduce the gap but still allow for the water to flow.

Both gates receive a lot of use and UNE have now approached Terraworx Pty Ltd to upgrade some of their other sliding gates.
